Summer Camp 2025

“The senses, being the explorers of the world, open the way to knowledge.” -Maria Montessori

Provided an environment in which learning and play are indistinguishable, children continue to learn and grow no matter the time of year.

Waterfront Montessori Summer Programs are designed for fun with a purpose. Our exceptional teachers provide a safe and stimulating environment in which children are free to explore their passions. By tackling new challenges both indoors and out, children will make friends, develop their confidence and most importantly, have fun learning.

Summer Camp will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m for 2 year-olds, and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for 3 - 6 year-olds.

Reaching for Independence

Toddler | Age 2

Give your two year old a chance to take his or her first steps toward independence and self-care!

Toddlers have an amazing capacity to do things for themselves, if only we could give enough time and space to work on these skills – something that can be hard for us to do in the midst of our busy lives.  Our classrooms are staffed with our experienced lead teachers, who have the patience of saints and expertise in child development. Let them nurture and develop your child’s drive to master the world around him or her in an environment in which learning and play are indistinguishable. Our children will also sing to their hearts content with our talented Music staff. Outdoor play in our secure playground rounds out the morning.

Hopscotch Around the World

6 Weeks, 7 Continents!

Ages 3 - 6

INSPIRE your child this summer!

Launch your youngster on an adventure through seven continents in six weeks with Hopscotch Around the World. Children learn best by creating, collaborating and exploring. Each week, campers will explore a continent through unique and engaging hands-on experiments and activities in STEM, science, music, dance, history, art, and cooking (COVID permitting).

Camp will convene on the playground each morning for a spirit-boosting round of camp songs and cheer. Campers will then join a morning sports class or dance lesson before diving into a day of global exploration. With our Montessori-grounded, 360-degree approach to teaching, your child’s learning will never be deeper. But they will just call it fun!

Session 1: June 27 - July 15 (No camp on July 4)

Week 1 June 27 - July 1; Australia

Let’s go down under! Explore one of Earth’s most incredible ecosystems, the Great Barrier Reef. Dive into the depths of this natural wonder and be stunned by the amazing diversity. Campers’ creativity will thrive as they explore Aboriginal art techniques and discover Australian animals.

Week 2 July 5 - 8; North America

There’s no place like home! Your camper will be amazed to discover all there is to learn about their very own continent. Through engaging lessons, campers will study North America’s varied climate, flora, and fauna and will explore some of the United States’ own culture and traditions.

Week 3 July 11 - 15; South America

Journey across this exotic continent, home to the world’s largest mountain range, longest river, and largest lake. Campers will discover the wide variety of animals who live here, explore their unique habitats, and uncover its rich culture. They won’t want to miss the opportunity to learn some Samba steps and listen to ancient indigenous instruments!

Session 2: July 18 - Aug 5

Week 4 July 18 - 22; The Arctic

Did you know that the word Arctic comes to us from the Greek arktos, meaning “bear”? Campers will uncover why and discover so many more fascinating facts as we explore everything, from polar weather to frozen features such as icebergs and glaciers and engage in illuminating scientific activities, learning about Arctic animals and representing them through yoga!

Week 5 July 25 - 29; Africa

Join us for a safari without leaving Jersey City! Travel to this fascinating continent to explore its wildlife, culture and geography in depth. Campers will discover ecosystems ranging from mountain rainforests to savannah grasslands and dusty deserts, all while creating African-inspired crafts and moving and grooving to the beat of African music.

Week 6 August 1 – 5; Europe & Asia:

Europe: Say bon voyage as we sail across the Atlantic!  Campers will learn about the continent’s famous landmarks as they participate in hands-on exploration of European art and architecture. They’ll never forget the experience of crafting their very own Eiffel Towers and medieval castles during our STEM architectural challenges!

Next stop: Asia. Earth’s largest continent! Campers’ creativity will blossom as they explore traditional art activities like origami and learn to make ink and paper from scratch, as well as be introduced to the beauty and energy of traditional Chinese dance.

After three weeks full of exploration, learning, discovery, and friendship, each session will end on a high note with an exciting magic show!

We provide each camper with camp t-shirts and their very own travel suitcase, in which they will store their finished projects. Campers love decorating their suitcase with each continent’s sticker as we “visit” a new location each week. They will also receive an explorer’s journal, the perfect complement to their incredible journey.

SUMMER CAMP REVIEWS

Waterfront Montessori’s summer camp exceeded all expectations, which were already quite high. I was a little apprehensive to send my 3-year-old as he had never been to any kind of drop-off program but his 5-year-old sister has been a student at WFM for many years so they attended together. The teachers welcomed them both with open arms and I instantly knew they would be in good hands. Ms. Maria is the brains behind the program and created an amazing mix of learning and playing. Within the first two weeks, the kids had explored fish, reptiles and insects, eagerly learning about their habitats, diet and role in nature through animal exhibits and guest speakers. They expended energy through music, creative movement, sports, dance and water play. On the last day of summer camp, after experiencing an extraordinary magic show, the kids came home happy and excited to show off a briefcase full of craft activities they had made during their time at the one-of-a-kind WFM summer camp.

My son has never been to school before so attending Waterfront Montessori Summer Camp was his very first school experience. I am so happy we made the right choice. All teachers here are friendly and experienced. They took good care of the kids and applied strict COVID-19 protocols, which is pretty important to me. The activities were fun and highly involving for young kids. My son had a great time and absolutely loves this school! We are more than happy to recommend this summer camp to our friends! Thank you again for this wonderful camp! Best wishes!

[My child] loved Waterfront Montessori Summer Camp. He would run to school every morning and then tell us about all the exciting activities he did every day. We highly recommend the Waterfront Montessori Summer Camp to other parents.
Thank you, Waterfront Montessori, for a wonderful summer experience.

We would like to thank you for organizing a phenomenal summer camp this year.  Thank you for helping build a strong foundation of trust and positive learning experiences, one that helps our children become confident, curious, have a point of view and develop a love for learning.
